Every poet is brave-
it takes courage to
undress your soul,
dig deep, to the darkest and
scariest parts of yourself and
let them shine through your poems.

I hear you about the darkest depths of the soul. Do you think prose writers feel the same? Or is the lengths of their works safer than a shorter, to-the-point poem?

I do believe that in any piece of writing we reveal elements of ourselves, but poetry..it usually deals with very intense emotions and experiences that are condensed and the language with descriptions and metaphors is putting a reader on a whole different journey than prose..that’s how I perceive poetry 🙂

yet for all we show we hide a little too

That’s true – I think the biggest value is that we learn something new about ourselves – no matter if we show it in the poem or not.

I’ve found a suppressed, calmer more subtle me in the relatively short time I’ve explored my thoughts in a poetic way … I think it’s the lilt, the flow that helps me let myself go … and as for darker thoughts I tend to hide in ambiguity!
